More Comings and Goings...

There's a lot going on as far as people coming into the show and leaving, so here goes:

- Ivan Rutherford will be taking over the role of Valjean in the two weeks of performances between Drew Sarich's departure and John Owen-Jones' arrival.  Welcome back!

- On October 21, Ali Ewoldt will be leaving the show with me.  Leah Horowitz will be replacing her.  Ann Harada leaves the show October 30.  Jenny Galloway will be returning to the Broadway as Madame T beginning November 1.

- Judy Kuhn is coming in to replace me, and begins performances on October 23.  She rocks.

- Blake Ginther leaves the show October 3, Carlos Encinias will be taking over.

- Marya Grandy departs on October 14.  Christy Faber will be starting that track on October 16.

That's about it for right now.

Wow...how time flies, huh? You only have just a little over a month left in Les Miz, but what awesome memories you'll have for sure after this run. I'm just SOOOO GLAD I was able to see you perform at least once in April. Does Ali have a new project in line?

Hi Lea, I am a big fan. I am so proud of your achievements. I am sure these feelings are shared by a lot of Filipinos. One day I hope to see you in Broadway (a wish unfulfilled as of the moment because I am staying home to be w my son). But I want to applaud you for your success!!! BTW, your little girl is very cute :-D

WOW!!! Judy Kuhn as Fantine.

Ivan is an amazing JVJ. John Owens, I hear, is also great. I like the Equity swap. :)
Anyway, shucks that you're leaving. Well, I guess it's time to rest and move on to the next project. You did an amazing thing for the company and lifted the artistry to a much higher level. I wish Ali the best as well and she is also an amazing actor. I read that they're auditioning for that role now. People will be comparing the Fantines (Judy) for sure. I'm curious to see how Judy would approach the character. Enjoy your last few weeks at the Broadhurst.

Did Judy Kuhn play Cosette in the Les Miz anniversary concert?
And Ann Harada, wasn't she the original Christmas Eve in Ave. Q? And what role is she playing now?
I have to see you guys before you leave the show.

Yes to both. Ann Harada is currently playing Madame Thernadier.

I watched Les Miz back in January of this year. It seems like years ago...The memento of this show especially starring Lea Salonga will never fade from me. Thanks for making us Filipinos proud.

Heard you were out...hope you feel better. Fighting a cold virus here too.

Lea Salonga said...

Thanks... I'm on medication so I'm feeling better. Usually when the season changes from one to another, that's when I get hit with a sore throat.

arkitekfhc . said...

Funny, that happens to me too yet no matter how I argue this point to the doctor, he insists that there is no medical fact that can prove a change of weather brings an onslaught of sinus and throat problems including the cold virus. Glad your better. I hope Nic and Grandma are ok too.

I first saw and learned about you today. We are able to put YouTube up on the 50" Plazma. Josi, my Filipino wife of nearly 23 years, [mail order bride] and I were watching some videos of her home in Ilagan, Isabela [she has a BA from MQ], when she said: "Type in 'Lea Salonga'". Wow! I am a 67 year old widower, ex-biker, pilot, artist, and we are serious PB Christians. For the past 6 hours, we have been watching many of your videos. We both broke down and wept over Robert's reactions at the wedding. We have always held Shania and Celine up there as the top two, but now we have a "top three". Robert, you must have had something.... I know, I have the best wife in the world! Best to you, always! 3 Jo. 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." tlk

This probably seems out of place to ask this question, and I mean no offense by asking this, but I just want to make sure before I go see Les Mis again in vain (after enjoying you immensely a few sundays ago), do you come out to sign autographs for the fans? It would rock my world to get something signed by you that I can frame.

Lea Salonga said...

I always do.

Wonderful! Thank you ^_^ Might I add it was almost a dream come true to be able to see you perform here at home and not only that, in Les Miserables. Definitely my new favorite Fantine!

Judy Kuhn is great :) But they will miss you a lot... I hope that you will have an Asia tour one of these days that hopefully will hit Singapore.

Hi Lea,

Have you ever thought about doing the show Wicked, specifically the character Elphaba? You would be great!

Mariciel Fulangen said...

Lea,
My husband and I very much enjoyed watching your performance of Fantine on Wednesday! Seeing you in person was a dream come true for me. My hubby, though American but grew up in Manila, just gushes about you too! :) For us both to have the same admiration of you is pretty cool. Thanks for taking the time to sign and take pics with us star-struck folks! I'm sure you've heard this a lot but from our humble hearts, YOU are an incredible performer. God bless you on your new project and endeavors and your adorable family!
