Still at home

Yes... it's Tuesday night, and I'm home from work.  I still don't feel well enough to head back, but tomorrow should be a better day.

On a nicer note, my apartment just got soundproofed today!!!  Finally, we can all sleep without the raucous of garbage trucks outside my building at 3 AM, drunken hollering on Broadway or just general street noise.  Damn, it's something I should have done a long time ago.

We're watching American Idol... why am I generally underwhelmed this season?  With the exception of Melinda Doolittle, none of the other Idol hopefuls really got to me.  Having said that, I vote for Jordin Sparks to win over Blake "Beatbox" Lewis.  Then again, it's all about the votes.  The show I've really been watching is Dancing With The Stars.  Tonight's the finale, and I'm wanting Apolo Anton Ohno to take it all.  He has been fearless the entire season.  Joey Fatone is the other one that's been incredibly impressive, with wonderful performances and great stage presence.  So, who will it be?

Wow...nice that you finally got it sound proofed. Yes, I was also miffed with Doolittle loosing the popular vote. She was the talent. Oy, and justinber-Blake? On the dance competition...either Ohno or Fat-one, they're both good. So as Ali's daughter. But I know you like Ohno. :) Feel better, Manang. Les Miz is not the same without you.

PS. Did the sound proofing just involve window glazing replacement?

I vote for Jordin to win American Idol.

I want either Apolo or Laila to win DWTS.

i do hope tomorrow feels better for you...and yeah, soundproofing is the bomb! there's this one jeepney that always passes my window at 430am without fail, and his muffler is set to "roar"! i would love to have my place totally soundproofed, not just to keep sounds out but also to keep my rucus in! i just found out a few days ago that my barangay camps outside my house when i'm singing my heart out from the second-story window. apparently, they love it when i do michael jackson! go figure. anyway, hope you get back to a hundred percent soon. we love you! mwah

wish I was in NY one more time to watch Les Miz and see my idol one last time -oh, switching gears -are we talking about American Idol? Kelly and Chris were my favorites of all idol shows. It would be awwweesome if Lea was a judge in american idol - I'd tivo it.

I was not so hooked on Idol this year. I started watching just the past few weeks. I'm disappointed that Melinda was booted, but the votes are the votes. As much as I'm pulling for Jordin to win, I won't be surprised if there's an upset if Blake takes it. It would have been nice to see Jordin/Melinda in the finals.

I like Melinda too but it is just sad that she got booted out of the competition. I vote for Jordin to win. She's 17 and will go a long long way.

Manang, take good care of yourself.

Chari: Psst huy, I"m waiting for you!! If you go to Ferrara again and don't call me, you are so dead--you know I'm across the street!!!

Lea, did you get Citiwindows? I'm trying to figure out how to do my apartment...is it worth it for a rental? I need to figure out something fast bec J wants to glue foam onto plywood, put handles on it and push it into the windowframe!
I was rooting for Ian myself...not because he was particularly talented but because he's so cute :)
Feel better!

Yeah, I was bummed out when Melinda was out of the competition. She's been my first and only choice throughout this season. However, the 2 remaining finalists are good too! I agree with Simon when he said at the end of the show that Blake is more of a entertainer/performer and Jordin is the singer. So, since "American Idol" is a show that looks for the next best talented singer, I would DEFINITELY have to choose Jordin!

As for "Dancing with the Stars", Apolo has been my choice to win since probably around the third or forth week of the show. He's so handsome, too! In the beginning I thought that Laila Ali had a strong chance of winning above the rest, but I agree that Apolo was very consistent throughout the competition. I was so happy when he won!

I was kinda sad to have read the announcement of this year's Tony Awards presentors. I was expecting to see your name on the list! You are a beloved stage star who is not seen on the New York stage as often as we would like you to be because of the fact that not a lot of roles are written for Asians and so I strongly think that it's too much of a favor to the Tonys Organizers to take advantage of your presence on Broadway right now and make you visible in the Tony Awards program. My two cents worth. Hohum...

hilltop - Unfortunately, Lea is not qualified to be in the running for a Tony Award for a lead role because she is not the original Fantine who opened this 2006 revival production. It was Daphne Rubin-Vega. Only the original cast can be qualified for that category. If there is a Tony for "Best Replacement in a Lead Role" then, she will be in the running or would definitely win it.

Hill Top said...

Uhm, read again please. I didn't say I wanted her to be nominated because I very well know she won't be as she's a replacement and I know the rules. I just would love to see her visible in the Tony Awards celebration as a presentor or a performer perhaps. She deserves to be there!

I apologize. I thought you meant nominations. :)

You watch Idol too? I so love Melinda Doolittle. Really felt bad when she was voted out a week before the finals. Still do.

I just wish Dancing with the Stars will be aired here in the Phils. My aunt said it's really a good show--even better than Idol.

I'm a Blaker girl... but oh well... Jordin won. Jordin deserves it anyway. Chismis lang.. I heard the voice and the beatboxer are romantically together... weeee!

Catching up on your blog Lea. I am glad you voted for Jordin on "American Idol." I did like Melinda too, and wished she was in the finals along with Jordin. Lea, I am curious to know if you, or anyone else here, could see any of the American Idol contestants this year ever being in a production of Les Mis and if so what role?

I'm listening to "Pie Jesu" right now followed by "A Smile In Your Heart" by Jam Morales. "Point of View" by Joey & Pops, and Joey's "A Million Miles Away".

Other than "Pie Jesu", the other songs bring tears in my eyes, too, as I reminisce my fun youth...

Oh Yes! Im a big fan of Dancing with the Stars...its so entertaining and different...and that would be so great if Lea will be a part of season 5...of course, im a big fan of Cheryl Burke as well esp. her family's from bay area ( think)!

It's been a long time since I've read your blog. I'm glad that you're feeling better and that you can now have some peace and quiet. Well AI is over and as expected Jordin has won. No surprise! The moment Melinda was out I knew Jordin was a shoe in. Melinda just got too bid for the show. She was flawless and so all that was left was for her to get out and start her career. Dancing with the Stars? Can't say I watch that. no time really. :)

Take care of yourself and give my best to the family.

Hi Lea. I just watched your videos from YouTube. I do it every night until 2 or 3 am in the morning. And I still have to wake up at 6:00 am to go to work. I just love your voice. I want to hear you sing over and over and over again. I just wish I can go to NY to watch you in Les Mis.
