Yessss...congratulations!
And your new peechur...wow (bows in hanga)! Such a beautiful shot.
Is that a preview of the Fantine look? Is that the official production picture from Tara Rubin? Manang, as we speak, the tiks are selling fast. I'm happy that you will be there up to the summer season. Would it be Nic's first time in NYC? Anyway, congratulations, welcome back, break a leg and see you there.

Ms. Lea, congratulations po! This is a dream come true. Since I was 4 I always wanted to see you live on Broadway. I even lost 4 sets of cassettes of "Miss Saigon" and 1 CD. When "Saigon" was in Manila I was not able to see you, I saw Czerah. I am not going to let this opportunity pass since I am now living in Philly. I am so excited to see you as Fantine. I am so excited. Ms. Lea, congratulations again. Wishing all the happiness and blessings for you, your family and your career! See you at stage door! GOD BLESS! -Chino- P.S. Do you want anything from Philly? A Cheese steak perhaps? :-)

Hi Lea, I bought tickets on-line as soon as I found out you are playing the other dead girl (LOL) in Les Miz. I was lucky enough to get 6th row center orchestra for Friday, May 25th so please, please, please, please, please stay healthy and perform that night. Jim (my partner) and I are driving all the way from Washington, DC just to see you. We have become official Lea Salonga groupies having seen all of your east coast gigs (Broadway, Atlantic City, Lenape Performing Arts, Warner Theater, and of course, Carnegie Hall - we were there front row center and boy, oh boy, what a show!!!), We are looking forward to seeing you again at the Broadhurst Theater stage door after the performance. Good luck...ay, break a leg pala!

I used to have the 10th anniversary video, but it got old and don't play anymore, and I can't find a new copy :( So I have to settle with just listening on a CD, but as long as I get to hear your beautiful voice it's all good ;) Good luck on playing Fantine, I'm sure you'll nail it!

7 reasons not to mess with children.

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".

The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to "honour" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"

Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Mommy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."

"Yes," the class said.

"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"

A little fellow shouted,
"Cause your feet ain't empty."

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."

Congrat to you Lea for returning to Les Mis... I am trying to talk my husband into taking me to see it (again) so hopefully I will finally get to see you perform... I love your voice and for some strange reason have been hypnotically drawn to revisit my Miss Saigon soundtrack (now, of course, I can't STOP listening to it, go figure). Anyway, break a leg!!

After Fantine....what's next? Cinderella!
Great news and congratulations! You'd give Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella a fresh face and a beautiful lyrical approach to those songs. Nic would surely enjoy all those beautiful countries.

whew! Got my tickets on March 17th Matinee show. Hope to see you there Lea. My sister and I are so excited, another dream come true! See you!

Li'l Dove Feather said...

May I answer? She's not exactly the or a lead but is still a very important role. She is Cosette's mother and, as Lea said before, she dies early in the show. The main character really is Jean Valjean and he adopts Cosette, who falls in love with Marius and shares a sort of love triangle with Eponine. Eponine is the character who gets to sing On My Own. As you probably know, Lea played Eponine before. :)

moon reign said...

hi ms. salonga,

i am glad to hear that you are going back to new york and be a part of Les Miserables. we were able to watched your concert at nob hill san francisco as well. Buena Suerte to all of your performances.

arkitekfhc . said...

The Fantine character may not be a lead role in the book but, for this musical production, it is considered as one. The top billed roles for this production are Jean Valjean, Javert, Fantine, and Eponine then followed by Cosette, the Thernadiers, Marius, and finally Enjolras. That is also the reverse order of how they come out for their bows during curtain call (Fantine and Eponine both come out together). I wonder if they will make Lea bow after Celia Keenan-Bolger (Eponine). Yes, Fantine's role is quite limited but she reappears at the end. She also gets to sing very beautiful and memorable songs. Although the role is limited, the actors who play Fantines have to play bullet boys and soldiers between the two segments of Fantine's performances. There is a game played by the Les Miz fans....that is, spotting the Fantine actor during those scenes as they are very well guised as men. :)
