My new album INSPIRED is out!!!

Hello, Everyone!

And finally, it's been released. This is my new album, INSPIRED. Twelve tracks orchestrated by Gerard Salonga, Ria Villena-Osorio and Marvin Querido, recorded in a great studio in Alabang called Carmel House Studios. Global Studio Orchestra. And lots of Starbucks coffee, he he he.

But in all seriousness, I'm very proud of this latest studio release. We poured a lot of love into it, and hope you all enjoy it.

Find it at your favorite record bars. Check Odyssey, Astro, Starry Starry and all the SM Malls.  No, it isn't yet available on Music One.  Once it is, I'll let you all know.

Waaah! My husband and I drove 1.5 hrs through traffic (a Friday in LA, I should've known) to get to Tatak Pilipino, and we didn't make it on time! They were closed! So, I was extremely upset that I didn't get your cd the first day they had it, and on top of that, we got lost on the way home, so we ended up driving for a total of 3.5 hours! But, it's ok, it's Saturday morning and they open at 11...I'm getting it for sure today...or I'll cry! You look absolutely be-a-u-tiful on the cover, as always!

Lea Salonga said...

Not exactly. The repertoire will be "band dependent", meaning it'll depend on how many musicians will be on stage with me.

Lea Salonga said...

Speaking of lyrics, they're not all correct!!! I wasn't able to do a thorough proofread of the booklet prior to its release. There are musicians whose names weren't listed, and in one case, the songwriter written for one song was wrong. Ngyik!

"Who Are You" was written by BILL CANTOS, not PETE TOWNSHEND. The other text errors are lyrics.

The next printing will have all the corrections. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, Lea! Thanks for clarifying that this site is public, with nothing exclusive to contacts. It's so nice of you to do so because it lets your fans who tried to add you know that you are not blowing us off. Very nice and considerate...

About the album, I was importing it to my itunes, and the information was not there (song title, artist etc). It was there for all of your other albums that I imported. Just thought I'd mention this in case it's something that needs to be added to the disk. If it's just a mistake on my part, sorry for all this jibber jabber!

Can't wait to see you in NY, Lea! My husband and I will only probably be able to get the nose bleed seats, but so as long as we can be there, I'll be happy!

That's okay, Lea. Your diction is so clear that we can still get the correct lyrics and sing along with you.

There are no more available cds here in Bohol. I was hoping I could buy another one to give as a birthday present to my friend who works in a place where there are no cd stores. My cousins in Davao also had a hard time finding a copy because they said they were told sold out na. I'm sure this will be platinum because I heard sold out sa halos lahat ng stores anywhere. Congratulations!!!!!

By the way, you look so slim sa Sharon, Lea! Wit-wit! :-> It was a treat to see and hear you sing, sometimes with the Megastar pa. If the show asked for tickets, the value would have been sky-high. Thanks for making us start the week in high spirits.

Yes, that must've been it.

Lea, I have a few questions that I've been wanting to ask you, please respond if you have time and feel like it...

1. What English language accent are you most comfortable with? I've heard the English, American, and Filipino accents from you and was just curious to know. I'm sure you're comfortable with all, but which one is "yours"?

2. When I go to the Pantages, I dress business casual. What should I wear to the Broadhurst, considering that I'll be in the mezzanine section? (If anyone else could help out with this one, please do.)

3. Is there a back door where fans can wait to see you for a picture and/or autograph after the Les Miz show? I've seen it done at the Pantages and was hoping I could do so.

4. Are you planning to do another concert tour in the US (Please say yes!)?

5. Bruins or Trojans? (Don't look at my profile before answering, I can take it! Hehehe.)

Broadway has gotten casual so, no need to fuss about attire but, tradition always calls for something that is decent (sans jeans and tshirts). Depending on when you're seeing it, if it's quite cold, wear a heavy overcoat, nice pants and top or business casual. No need to freeze just to wear a dress.

Ellis Luciano said...

Hi Ms. Lea,

I am Ellis from Isabela.

I just got a copy of your “Inspired” CD and I am glad that you came up with this studio album after a series of LIVE recordings.

Listening to your albums, be it live or otherwise, is such a wonderful musical journey one is willing to take. I let myself be carried away by your music because I believe it will take me to places where I have never been – an experience worth a countless magic carpet ride.

From the song “I Think I’m In Love” to “ I Need You Back,” from “Reachin’ Out” to “Even If,” your “Lea…In Love” album reminded me of the joys and pains of loving.

“By Heart” on the other hand, encourages me to love despite the risk of getting hurt. This album of yours reminds me to love until it hurts, and when it already hurts, it doesn’t mean that I have to stop from loving, it is then that I am expected to love even more.

“Lea Live” tops my list of my favorite Lea Albums not only because it was a recording of your “homecoming” concert but it is also a testimony of your legendary artistry. I listened to this recording many times that I already memorized not only the songs but your spiels as well...in the encore you said “I’ve got the red dress on so this one, hehe, is quite appropriate”…then proceeded to singing a beautifully arranged “Tomorrow.”

Your “Broadway Concert” recording made me go nuts over “Nothing” and that Miss Saigon is not only Sun and Moon but “Too Much For One Heart” as well.

Another favorite is “Songs From Home.” I loved your spiels in this show. It seems like I am a course on OPM 101 whenever I listen to it. It made me enjoy OPM and know its background too. I was quite “bitin” in Sharon Cuneta Medley though because you did not include the line “itago mo ako sa lilim na iyong pagmamahal, hayaang matakpan ang kinang na di magtatagal….” in the “Bituing Walang Ningning” part. How could you missed this! This is our anthem hahaha! :-)

Golly! I am suppose to write something about your new CD pala! Hahaha! :-)

My top three favorites in your “Inspired” cd:

1.Two Words – sounds familiar. I guess this was the song you sung in the church on your wedding day. I love the interweaving of the violin and your voice. Very nostalgic.

2.To Hear You Say You Love Me – This line makes me emotional “I will reach out to the ocean with my arms wide open and send to you my heart, my soul, my true devotion. No, there’s nothing I won’t give. Do you know that I live for the chance to hear you say you love me.” I love the orchestration in this song.

3.Promise Me – It was only you who made me listen to this song without prejudice (I used to hate this song – but I now appreciate it and look deeper into its lyrics.)

I’ve always known “Sing” to be a “fun” song that’s why I was quite unsatisfied with its new arrangement. Yes, “sing of happy not sad” and I still prefer having children singing the la la la la la la part hehehe ;-)

I am very impressed by the CD Packaging…fabulous! I love the photography, very artistic! What I love about your CD packaging, not only in “Inspired,” is the way you write your thank you messages - It shows your sincerity as a person. It has a personal touch that made me feel that you are reaching out to the one reading it. I’ve noticed also that it was not only in your “Inspired” cd that you asked “saan ang kainan?” to BMG people hehehe! ;-)

Oh yes…I agree with you when you said that the geniuses who worked with you in this album are f***ing amazing!

When you were still a kid you recorded "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" and I want to tell you that you did not only teach us to sing but you taught us to love music as well. I learned to love even your commercial jingles, I still remember the scene of you calling yaya and at the end you sung "105-12 AT&T USA direct mabuhay service." PLDT's "hello kaibigan kumusta ka na?" Oh yes, even Creamsilk's "who's afraid not me?" hehehe :-)

Growing up Asian-American in a non-ethnically diverse community, you were the only well-known person I could reference as being Filipino. No one in the community even knew what a "Filipino" was. My favorite childhood response would be, "Have you heard of 'Miss Saigon,' 'Aladdin' (& later 'Mulan')? Have you heard of Lea Salonga?" Sure enough, most of them had heard of you. "She's Filipino."

So, thank you,THANK YOU for bringing Filipinos to the spotlight and doing so in such a positive light. Continued success to you! :)

Hi Lea! This is Lea (Edrosolan)... :) I love your new album! My fiance, Carlo Santos (who works as design artist at GC4) , delighted me with a double surprise last week...a copy of it...with a dedication from you on it! I don't immediately become a fan of anyone but I sure have been admiring you since I've come to learn about you. (My first time to communicate with you (or with any celeb for that matter) :) Of course for your golden (couldn't grab a hold of an excellent word to describe such heavenly talent!) voice but moreso for the kind of person you are (as people have written about) and as my fiance described when he saw you in person visiting your husband Rob at GC4. He was floored by your being down-to-earth!

Anyway, I wrote particularly because of the song "Two Words." I've been listening to it the whole day yesterday at work. Truly inspiring! I want to sing it on my own wedding (yup, it'll be very soon. this may 12). Planning to have my musician friends (skilled in piano and violin) to back me up and was wondering if it is at all possible to get a chord chart or piece (whatever it's called) of the song. If so, how?

Would really appreciate you getting back in anyway.

Btw, belated happy birthday!

God richly bless you in all your endeavors!

Great! Great CD! Finally, my cd arrived from manila!!! My personal favorites are Who Are You, When The Winter's Gone and Waiting For Love? Who sang Who Are You? I love the orchestration arrangement too! (all the songs!) galing! it also reminds me of Earl Klugh's Balladina (1st part - strings). Like the Fantine pic...a friend of mine and i are planning to watch you on les miserables. (cross fingers)...would love to see you perform! Good luck! You're so galing!!!

also wanted to share, if you want a nice, cool drink, (on your day off from performance - kasi malamig yung drink), get a refreshing drink from red robin - they have the BEST strawberry lemonade! Bottomless pa! next best would be denny's and sonic! mimi's cafe and applebees has it, pero id rate it a 2 out of 10. sorry, my thoughts are so far away from the cd...just wanted to share some nice drinks from cali and vegas, that ive been enjoying (and i didnt get to drink it in manila last year)...vegas will soon be having jollibee! we cant wait! hope to see you here...any shows?!? please?!? would be nice...

You're The Best!!!

I got this and it is wonderful! It's the only cd I listen to in my car, on my Ipod and as a passenger in my hubby's car. I love songs 9 and 11 (yes I'm a David Benoit fan!) and I think I will not listen to any other (unless it's a Friday, I really have to tune-in to 89.9 for Friday Magic Madness ... I have been doing that for ages) ... not for the next few years! :-)

Ask your fiance to ask Gerard Salonga how this can happen, as he's the arranger of the piece. Not to mention in the same building. Good luck, and congratulations!

Lea puts Beverly Craven's version of "Promise Me" in a whole new world. Wow! The new orchestration and Lea's singing made this song one solid revision...we can't ask for more. "Wow!"

I've been going thru "Inspired" warp zone.

from "Promise Me"...
"Do You Hear It?"...
"Two Words"...
"Land of the Loving"...
"Waiting For Love"...

back to "Land of the Loving"...
"Promise Me"...
now, "When The Winter's Gone"... (6/5/2007)

If you have a good ear and eyes to synchronize all of the "Inspired" songs to this video, it is just so beautiful...! Purely magical.
