Black Saturday in the city

Since we spent the entirety of Good Friday at home, we were a little stircrazy, but looking forward to the day.  We had an invitation to lunch at our friend Yvette's home, along with other friends Lisa and Berck (who are expecting their first child in a few months) and Stevie and Ana (who toted their beautiful ones Agustin and Felicia).  Yvette and Lisa attended Columbia University together... Yvette was actually my Matron of Honor, and we are a pair that have seen each other through a lot in our lifetimes in New York.  She's seen me through a few breakups (and I've seen her through a few as well)... when I was still single and on the few times that I didn't want to be by myself in my apartment, I'd head to her place, even if I ended up staying awake the whole night.  There were very few friends I was comfortable enough to do this with... she was one of them.

First we headed to Greenbelt 3 to check out of the Macbook Air, something Rob has been eyeing lustfully for a while now... unfortunately they were out of stock at the PowerMac Center.  He was thwarted... for right now... it's something he has his sights set on, so we'll just have to wait a while.  After that, it was off to lunch at Yvette's.

Lunch was delicious, and taken really slowly... beef, lasagna, chapchae, salad with a honey vinaigrette dressing, plus rum cake, ube halayan, sans rival and ice cream for dessert.  It ended with a delicious cup of coffee, and plenty of laughter and conversation.  Lunch started at around 12:30 and ended close to 4:00, most of it spent chatting over the latest goings-on in Manila.  Of course all good things must come to an end, so after lots of hugs and kisses goodbye, we were off to Power Plant.

Of course we paid a visit to PowerMac and then walked around for a bit... got some crayons and paper for Nic... a few items at the grocery store... a few escalator rides as well for the little one, and it was off to Alabang.  We stopped first at Alabang Town Center for Rob to check on something before we went home.

It was a fun Saturday spent with friends and family.

Hola, I checked the Air out for my Dad (to send in a balikbayan box daw...huh?? :) Anyway, it really is super thin but the edges are all sharp, it's heavier than you might think and, to me at least, the whole thing feels flimsy. The keyboard is old school and rubbery, kind of like the buttons on a play cellphone. That said, if it were about a thousand dollars less, I wouldn't mind having something like that to carry around in my purse.

In my search for a new laptop, I too, had eyed the Air but decided it was just a bit too steep for my wallet at the moment. I ended up getting a MacBook, which I am completely enamored with (only because this is my first ever Mac computer, after working with a Windows laptop for a number of years.) I do love how sleek the Air is.

This would be a great pasalubong for Rob after your April US concert.

He he he, true. My personal taste and preference is with a machine that has the DVD-ROM player built in (you'd have to get a separate superdrive with the Air), more than just the 2 USB ports (I love using my Firewire port for my external hard drive, for example) and 80 gigs of memory (the most na yan, ha!). I'm good with my Macbook (black) and whatever else I have. Tama na 'to, if not more so.

Haaaaaaaay, my macbook (white) has been to the doctor 3 times already, and I consider myself a careful user. I even had the warranty extended for another 2 years the second time it conked out on me for fear of an encore. Sure enough it did. Hope yours isn't giving you any problem.

Hasn't given me one bit of trouble since I bought it. It was actually a replacement for the computer I had that died after 2 years of faithful usage... this was an emergency purchase, and one I don't regret.

I was having trouble with my Mac Titanium Power G4 lately, coz laging siyang naghi-hibernate while i'm still using. I'm so tempted to open the and change the PRAM, I change a lot of CMOS battery before coz I'm a computer Technician (PC nga lang)

My mind is clouded by this problem, Should I do it or not (change PRAM myself)???

I'd only advise you to do it yourself if the warranty of the computer has run out. If it hasn't, then it might be prudent to take it to an authorized Apple service center.

I was running out of room in my MacBook's 80GB, so I actually listed my MacBook on craigslist, and within hours, bunch of offers came. The plan was to trade up to a MacBook Air. But, like you, I wanted to have the DVD-ROM player built in, I just couldn't see myself traveling with an external player. So, I took the MacBook off the Craigslist market, and I installed a 320 gig memory instead, and the 80 GB is now on an external enclosure. Now what do I do with all this memory? :-)

Oh my goodness! That's a fantastic problem to have!!!

kung 80 GB lang, ay masaya nako d2 sa aking xps m1210 by dell! datapwat, maganda ang itsura ni mac air. i shall try to resist that commercial (the one where it`s coming out of an envelope).

I'm not an Apple fan since I know it's over-rated and that most people who uses Apple products are just trying to ride on the bandwagon na parang status symbol na ng mga elite kahit they can't tell the difference between a Mac OS to Windows, blame it on Elle Woods, hi-hi!

I Love my Luxurious Rosé Pink finish Sony VAIO TZ Series. :)

wow lots of techie talk. maiba naman...lea, when you hang out with your friends, what do you usually talk about? do you talk about celebrity gossip? hollywood and local? that's my guilty pleasure...hollywood gossip!

sugar dizon said...

no offense meant but whatever lea and her friends talk about is private and is none of our business. let's just be thankful of what she shares with us here, a glimpse of her personal life. asking for more than what she voluntarily shares is simply too much.

Try to get involved in Video editting that's a great harddisk space to allocate. Download a bunch of software you don't need. Hope that help your problem. he..hhe..

I beg to disagree sa comment mo. We Apple user di kami nakikisakay lang, we drive
here's are some of my personal encounter

a)) Mac OS (multi-tasking in so many ways, excellent for video & sound editing). take note not overrated , this is merely based on my experience-

b) Window (I grow up with this stuff- have a higher dosage everyday pa rin- pero there's a lot of limitation and nuisance when it comes on protecting your precious data- lot's of hackers.-, ) so ingat lang sa mga window user. you definitely have trojan by now if you're not looking after your backdoor.

c) Linux - IT's FREE and if you want to explode your brain cell unlocking and editing repertoire's embedded Linux kernel or associated operating system software components - advantage- good luck : ,
I use this for Learning is Fun Cause Knowledge is Power- It's amazing- I even make my ASUS looks and feel like Macintosh yun lang very limited pa rin ang mga software.

I think when choosing whose the best- it depends sa conviction ng consumer, on whose they going to patronize.

But for me and the rest of Mac OS user- Apple Rocks !!!!!!!!!

Sooner or later, the Apple will rot and it will be useless unlike Windows with all the hassles na sinabi mo is very easy to tweak and versatile. I like to tinker with Linux sa ASUS too. :)

Individual diff, huh?

But for me and the countless Windows users, Apple Rots!!!!!!!! lol
