I Am REEEEEEEALLY Pregnant
Let me elaborate... I look and feel very pregnant. Now those symptoms that the baby books name are being experienced by me. Backaches (enough that it's getting progressively difficult to find a comfortable sleep position), a large belly, the desire to nap a million times a day, an increased appetite (so much so that I gained 7 lbs last month alone), and a little being in me that looks like I swallowed an alien. Fantastic!!!
Having said that, I'm thrilled as punch that the little one is doing well. Developmentally, she's exactly where she's supposed to be as far as her measurements are concerned. The ultrasound image also showed a nose, her lips (she stuck her tongue out too) and a well-defined chin. My husband thinks that chin belongs to me. The nose could also be mine, much to my great relief. We could also see her fingers and toes... a strong, beating heart, a bladder full of amniotic pee, beautiful legs and and a round, chubby head. I can't wait for her to appear!!!
We've just received our first Baby Shower gift... it was delivered to the house today. I already know what it is, so it won't be a surprise. My friend Stef and I also headed to a baby clothing outlet today, and walked away with onesies, pajamas, shirts, burp cloths, bibs, towels and whatever else up the wazoo! I'm sure we're going to receive more, thanks to the showers (and this baby's eager grandmother).
Now I have to start exercising. For my whole pregnancy thus far, I haven't been exercising. No swimming, no walking. I'm also asking a friend if she can teach pilates for pregnancy... hopefully I'll get a reply soon. The swimming pool in the backyard is starting to look good again, so I'm going to get myself a swim soon. Very soon.
No other report from here... I just thought to write to keep abreast of the latest baby developments. 3 months to go before the big day! 3 months to go before the series of sleepless nights and frequent feedings. 3 months before our lives are changed forever.

A Sexy Pregnancy
A friend of mine recently asked me what I was doing that I've been able to maintain a sexy pregnancy.
Firstly... WOW! You mean I'm still sexy? My own mother has remarked that my whole body (save for my belly region, obviously) has gotten slimmer. Another friend said I was leaner throughout (her own pregnancy sent her into swellyland... she carried over 20 lbs of water). My doctor asked me to try not to gain too much weight (she's limiting me to 15 lbs; I'm gunning for about 20), as I was overweight when I got pregnant... also, an oversized baby would be difficult to deliver (a 6 pounder isn't any more or less healthy than an 8 pounder; babies grow once they're out of the womb).
Moving on... so, I got to thinking back to my one friend's question: what are you doing to maintain a sexy pregnancy? Let me count the ways... I shall definitely refer to this for my next pregnancy:
1. Don't overeat... and when you do eat, try to keep it healthy.
I've been eating lots of fruits, vegetables, fish and chicken (with the occasional red meat treat every now and again). I do indulge in junk food a bit, and a bit of something sweet, but am otherwise trying to stay healthy with the choices I make. I really should eat like this all the time, pregnant or not.
2. Get some exercise.
Ah, now here's where I am delinquent... I've been really, really lazy with the "get up and go". I know that I should have some physical activity in order to ensure an easy and healthy delivery, especially that there's a swimming pool in my backyard.
3. Laugh... a lot.
During my pregnancy I've surrounded myself with really fantastic, funny, fun people. Lunches, rehearsals, coaching sessions, getting together for whatever.
4. Make love and/or cuddle.
There you go. It soothes... it caresses... it just works.
5. Sing.
Singing has been keeping my abdominal muscles good and strong, which will help me during labor and delivery. I've been advised to keep on singing for as long as I can, so I will!
That's about it... I'll have more once I remember more, but this is what I've been doing regularly. Let's see if it all helps when the big day arrives!

From a friend's blog
I just came from reading a friend's blog, and found that her posting made me smile, so I thought to share (she in turn got this from her sister's blog):
Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot,
who calls you back when you hang up on him,
who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.
Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats,
who holds your hand in front of his friends.
Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of
how much he cares about you and
how lucky he is to have you.
Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says,
"...that's her."
If you open this you have to repost it.
If you have a lot of love for someone, copy and send this to your whole list.
In 5 minutes your true love will call or message you.
You have just been WISHED.
Tonight at midnight your true love will realize they like you.
Something good will happen to you at approx. 1:55pm tomorrow, it could be anywhere.
So get ready for the biggest shock of your life.
Send this to 15 people in 15 minutes to carry on the chain.
(COPY AND PASTE, DO NOT JUST CLICK FORWARD.)
------------
No, I didn't feel compelled just so that my "true love" would reveal himself to me... that's already happened. I just wanted to post it here, because I thought it was beautiful.
I wish this for my single friends... I wish that they find their own true love, the one who complements them (not one who completes them: I'd like to think everyone should be complete individuals first before embarking on a relationship... besides, if this person who completes you leaves you, does that then leave you half a person?), the one who they can truly call a "soulmate". That's difficult to find, and at times even more difficult to discern.
To my coupled friends who are so blessed to have found their loves and are better for it, thank God you have. Care for them... love them... cherish and appreciate them. A true and deep love is rare and hard to come by.
That's it. Happy New Year!

Reflections on 2005
It's New Year's Eve over here... and the usual dread of hearing fireworks and other noisemakers is upon me. The reasoning is that the noise is meant to drive out the bad spirits of the previous year in preparation for the coming year. I don't think anyone makes more noise than we do on the Eve, yet we're still plagued by whatever's plaguing us through the years. So... I guess that "bad spirits" theory is screwed, huh?
Having said that there is much to reflect upon and be thankful for, wonderful blessings from the past year. Here are a few of them:
- My first US concert tour - we visited San Francisco, Chicago, Atlantic City and Los Angeles. I learned a lot about mounting a concert... what works, what doesn't, and basically how to have fun in spite of the stress involved.
- Moving back to Manila - Rob's LA-based company formed a joint venture with a company based in Manila, so he's had to move to Manila. He's been here since March, and I followed in April after my acting classes were done and other gigs were completed. It's been such a joy living here after a long time away... a decision which led to other blessings.
- Coaching - I credit (and sometimes blame) Bobby Garcia for the challenge of coaching KC Concepcion and Karel Marquez. Thank goodness I had a wonderful coaching partner (and mentor) in Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, someone to hold my hand through the process. Menchu then gave me the task of coaching Raki Vega and Jett Pangan for another show. Each person is different, and the challenge for me was to find the unique vocabulary with which to coach each one. I hope to do more of this in the future.
- I'm pregnant!!! - in September, Rob and I found out that we were going to be parents! We still don't know the gender of our little peanut yet (it refuses to uncross its legs... hence it's probably a girl), so we're ready with lots of unisex items. We still have yet to get some of the other things we'll need. I like the idea of the unisex stuff; that way if we have a different gender next, we won't have to go out and buy new stuff. We'll already be prepared. Thank Rob's cousin for that bit of down-to-earth reasoning. She already has a girl, and has no idea what she's having next.
- Carnegie Hall - one night... one fabulous night. If I never ever get to perform in this great hall again, at least I can say I've done it, and did it with a bang. Many thanks to Diverse City Theater Company for making it all happen (and for asking me in the first place!).
- The blessing of friends and family - 2005 was the year in which old friendships were rekindled and new ones were founded. My clutch of friends hasn't exactly gotten that much bigger (and I like it that way), but the ones I have found are true blue, and I thank God for each and every one of them. Sure, we'll have a few frustrating times, but on the whole their presence in my life makes me smile everyday. As for family, the coming arrival has brought out so much love headed in Rob's and my direction. Everyone's anticipating this new baby, and we can't wait to meet him/her.
That's about all... 2006 should be a stellar year for our new family. I'm not thinking about work at all; that may have to wait until 2007. For right now, it's all about the baby, my husband, family and friends. AND getting my figure back after I give birth.

Hello, world!!!

This was taken today... and this was our favorite photo. No, we still don't know the gender of the baby (legs were too close together!), and we really tried looking!
