Fan Mail Answered

Hi there!  I'm doing laundry at my Auntie's house in preparation for my trip home, so since I'm up waiting for it all to dry, I figured to write a pseudo-reply to my fans that have written me messages on Multiply...

It's a mite difficult to answer each and every message individually, as there are things that require my attention in the course of the day, but I do read everything (thanks for writing!).

- For those of you who wrote asking about my Cinderella schedule: I'll be doing each and every performance, barring illness, injury or vacation (I'm entitled to 2 weeks off somewhere in the run... waaaaaaaay after the Manila leg is over and done with).  If you see that my understudy is performing, it means that I am not in any way physically able to do that particular show.

- For those who write about how cute Nicole is, THANK YOU!!!  We think she's pretty darn cute too!

- For those just wanting to write to tell me about yourselves, wow!  Thanks so much for sharing a part of you with me.  It's great hearing about your families/school/children/talents/difficulties/hobbies/favorite things.  I'll apologize in advance if I don't write back.

- For those who sent PMs with allergy-relief suggestions, a huge THANK YOU!!!

- And finally, for those inviting me to join your networks, I'm flattered, but unfortunately I will decline... I do keep my Multiply site visible to everyone, but this isn't exactly a fan site, hence those I add are personal friends and members of my family exclusively.  This isn't meant as an offense to anyone.  HOWEVER, there are two fan sites here on Multiply (and the people there are really, really nice).  They are probably more up to date with my goings-on than I am (seriously!).  Go ahead and add yourselves there.  I'm also a member of both sites, so I check on them regularly, but I don't maintain them.

That is all!  Okay, I think my laundry is done now... time for me to sleep too.  Good night, and thank you again!

Awww... We are grateful to have you there as well, Manang! I will not deny that I have once invited you at a social network site but I don't get disappointed when you declined the invitation; plus having you "there" is already enough for us, so thank you Manang (and for ALWAYS being so nice and accommodating to us... online and off!)

I wish you a safe trip home, Lea...I know you miss the Philippines so much already.

Thank you so much for allowing us the rare opportunity to read and post stuff here on your blog, your personal space. You're right about the fan sites - I visit one of them regularly because it always seems up-to-the minute about your goings on.

Although I am a fan of your music, my main reason for visiting here regularly is to get a glimpse of what's inside that brilliant mind of yours. Your postings can be both entertaining and informative, and the writing style is very natural and conversational. Some of the stuff you write makes me happy and elated, sometimes sad and frustrated - but never bored.

I like the fact that we get to know your human side, as you experience the same range of emotions as we do. I'm sure you're naturally curious about what others are thinking too.

And by the way, I'm really anal retentive when I fold. The proportions of each shirt has to be exactly right. I also iron quite well!

Ronald Manaron said...

I should send my cousins to you so they could learn. They are neither rich nor famous, yet they rely on yayas and helpers in the Philippines to do their laundry for them. It never enters their consciousness to do such simple chores. They even gave me funny looks when I attempted to wash my own dishes during my last visit there. You'll never hear them talking about folding laundry or mopping the floor till it sparkles (LOL).

Brad Patterson said...

Oh, so am I. Kamille thinks I am soooooo anal about it. When you see us again (hopefully after the Disney Concert Hall gig) would you please tell her it's not abnormal?????

Hehehe...I remember when you borrowed our ironing table. James and I were newlyweds then and didn't have a lot of stuff. We just had that tabletop ironing board. When you were done, you told us to better get a real ironing board coz you had a hard time ironing your blue shirt (the one you wore to Gary Danko)!

Hi, Manang just got back from SFO. I was able to watch your shows at the Herbst Theatre, the first night was in the VIP section and the second night in the nosebleed section. LOL I missed your Sycuan concert in SD since I was told over the phone that the 2 shows were sold out.

Anyway, a lot of your fans were disappointed that you were not able to do a meet & greet for them at the Herbst since it was only for the VIP ticket holders and a lot of them actually bought many stuffs from that "mini- store" there. I heard some grumblings that they've been had into believing that they can have the items signed by you after the show. I hope these things did not happen in your SD show.

Lea Salonga said...

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry... I was advised that, because of the cold weather and my being under the weather in SFO, I should get some food and rest right after the meet and greet, so that's what I did. At Sycuan I sat and signed autographs after the 2nd show. I kept it at a half hour, which was just as well since I felt asthma-like symptoms after sitting in the smoky casino. Note to self: do not linger in a smoky room.

arkitekfhc . said...

Gosh, wasn't that meet and greet area at Sycuan the worst unventilated second hand smoke filled room? And, what's up with your mike at the first show? I can see you were getting irritated. :)

We totally understand if you were not able to accommodate everyone. You did mention you were exhausted. It was still an outstanding concert. I hope you've completely rested and feeling better.

Gina MS said...

The second hand smoke was the main thing I was worried about for you when I first heard about your casino shows here in San Diego. I hope you didn't have an attack soon after you left. We may not have had a group picture with you, but there will be other opportunities in the future, we hope. THANK YOU for coming to San Diego all the same!

---this is really funny. the first fan site is closed for new membership ever since a certain sugahmamma80 exposed the site administrator augustine73 as a plagiarist and an intellectual property thief. the other fan site are quite happy among themselves. LOL So, your endorsement Manang doesn't make sense. =>

But I love your show at Sycuan. Sulit yung 2 hours and 45 minutes na drive from Van Nuys although I have some issues regarding the meet & greet. LOL

Brian Tabinga said...

If I had misled anyone into thinking Lea would be out to meet and greet, I truly apologize. This is what I had told everyone who asked in no particular order....

"Lea normally comes out and does a meet greet, she is one of the few performers that takes the time to do that, however..."
"I can't guarantee that she will come out, there are many variables that factor into it"
"She has 4 concerts to do in 3 days, following this (SF Concert), she is on a plane for San Diego to do an evening back to back concert so there is a good chance she will be resting."

So...if out of that, we misled anyone, I apologize. In fact, there was one person that was upset we didn't sell CD's in the VIP room. We try our best.

And thanks, Lea, for mentioning the cold weather, I forgot about that most important aspect and its impact on your health and voice!

Dear Lea,

I am so glad I found you in the web. I am 31 years old and I have been a fan of yours since I was a child. The first songs I truly learned were your songs from your Small Voice Album. I am married now and we have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. To cut things short, here is my story...

I found it hard to teach my daughter the alphabet. She starts running around when we get to letter E, but you know what caught her attention? I sang your Alphabet Song, " A you're adorable, B you're so beautiful...". Yeyy! We got to the last letter! She now knows the alphabet.
She even loves the song "Tomorrow" from "Annie". O boy, we watch Annie everyday! Then I remembered the cassette tape I had as a child. I still leave with my family at our old house so I tried to look for it but I couldn't. So I tried to search the Internet that is why I got here. I then realized that cassette tapes are not available now, and if ever they are, I don't have a player. I saw a "plaka" of the album in Ebay but again, I don't have a player.

So Ms. Lea, maybe you can include in your plans to release the Small Voice album in a cd so I can share your beautiful music with my daughter. Anything is possible in this day and age, right? And I am sure it will be a success.

Thank you very much

Yours truly,
celeste
