UPDATE on the Valley Golf Incident

This intro has been edited to reflect current events...

After investigation, the elder Dela Paz was judged to have instigated the fight at the Valley Golf Course, and was expelled from the golf club for disorderly conduct.  Meanwhile, Sec. Pangandaman was suspended for two years, and his sons banned for life from ever entering Valley Golf Club.

Amazing how a very emotional posting can sway public opinion... and how important it is to get all the facts first before handing down judgment.  Turns out the victim wasn't such a victim after all.

Now that this matter has been put to bed, we can all focus on other, more important things...

I read the Phil Star article. The Mayor said he was acting in self defense. But that can't be a reason to beat up a 14 year old.

Hopefully this guy's reputation will be totally damaged by this incident. If I were a member in Valley Golf I would organize a boycott of the club until the Club expels this guy.

Normally, I hesitate before becoming judge, jury, and executioner because there's always two sides to an argument...but I can't begin to imagine how the loss of any control by the continuous beating of this man and young man could possibly be justified. This is just incredible! I will pray that this poor family does get justice, and that their injuries aren't serious...and that the mayor gets his just rewards.

Like leafanguy I hesitate coming to conclusions without hearing the other side of the story but this is just downright ridiculous. It's incredible how politicians or people with title post themselves as higher human beings than us, regular people. The most unfortunate thing out of all this is how easily the surrounding environment let it happen. Not even the guards nor the receptionists tried to intervene (as what I deduce from the story). It shows how instilled this detrimental mentality of supremacy is to us Filipinos that people quickly find their role in the situation. It's very disheartening. The only worse thing that could happen to this situation is if these barbarians disguised as public servants get away with this flagrant misconduct. Let justice be served albeit how rare justice is served nowadays.

In response to warrior119: I don't think it's fair for people who hail from Mindanao to be given this kind of response. The underlying mentality of why this insanity was carried out is practiced nationwide. People of higher positions have this sense of undeserved entitlement. It's disgusting.

i've seen a part of that news on tv. saw that guy (i guess that's the 14 yr old brother) crying helplessly. if those politicians think that they are high and above the law..they should think twice because what goes around always.. as in ALWAYS comes around.

I suggest them being hung by the balls... till their nuts fall off... and then shot.

We were once at the receiving end of one of the fits of these so-called public servants. A Mayor who for some reason felt that three sets, as agreed upon by our group and his daughter, wasn't enough "entertainment" for his drunk ass and proceeded to shout at us during his birthday party. His bodyguards too drew their guns and we were probably lucky to come home to Manila alive. Unforgettable and infuriating... sadly not an atypical example of the politician population.

May they, and others like them, live to regret their actions. And may they die in a manner befitting the way they lived.

I pray with all my heart that they get justice. People like these don't deserve to walk on this earth.

I don't know where this happened but I'd say in the province this is quite common.
My uncle was shot and killed last year because of some argument about money in our town. His 1st death anniversary had past and still no justice. and until NOW the mayor who killed my uncle is still there, and I think she's still planning on running for the next election which i just think is ridiculous if people still vote for her.
Still praying that hopefully we will get justice for my uncle. I'll pray that hopefully politicians will just do whatever they're supposed to do and not use their power to kill people.

They think they are above the laws, but one day they will realise that they aren't, The sooner the better!!!
These people deserve to get Justice, and that's what I wish them for this new year.

(Like every times I post a comment, I hope people will understand, I'm not fluent in English, unfortunately!)

The Valley Golf management said that based on their probe, it was Dela Paz who instigated the fight.

Pangandaman, meanwhile, was suspended for two years, while his sons were banned for life to enter the said golf course. - GMANews.TV

This kind of incident happens nationwide and worldwide. It's unfair for people like me/us here in Mindanao to be treated/received perceptions negatively just because of an incident like this. Not all of us here irregardless of religious stand and ethnicity are of the same colour as with those people. Me myself believe that such act is unjust and inhumane.

I saw the elder de la Paz on TV. He might be 56 years as he says he is but his built tells me that he is athletic. Sila Bambee at Bino hindi rin naman mukhang lampa at papataypatay. Mga malulusog sila The universities of Cincinnatti and Ateneo would not accept frail players to represent their schools in golf competitions. So, mga de la Paz, don't invoke old age and being minors as reasons for being in the losing end of the brawl you started anyway. Tama na ang paawa epek .you people unfair too!

habib mc rampat said...

Tama na yang pakakawawa EFFECT mo. you people here so unfair, included lea salongat!

whoever started the fight, the two boys ended up as victims. i can't even believe why a skirmish like this needs to be aired out in public. i think it just adds to the boys' trauma.
