Irritation, Part Deux

"Manang, this calls for a separate blog for irritation in case you haven't got one." -- Angel of Beasts

You asked for it, you got it!

The comments section will be open to anyone and everyone who wants to list down their irritations.  Yes, I do have a Pet Peeves blog, but it would just be too much to try and find it.  And right now I'm just tamad.

So... what irrrrrrrrrrrritates me?

1.  When people don't do their jobs right.  For example: the teleprompter operator at a gig I did failed my co-worker... his lyrics weren't entered into the prompter, and so at showtime he was left high and dry.  I was wondering why what he was singing in the show was different from what he was doing in rehearsal, so I took a glance at the monitor, and I saw that the lyrics were nowhere to be found.  All I saw were the title of the song and the words "To be entered later."  They were supposed to be entered YESTERDAY!  BEFORE THE GIG!  NOT LATER WHEN THE SHOW WOULD ALREADY BE OVER, DUMBASS!!!

2.  When the past comes back to bite me in the ass.  Not long ago I found out that an old falling-out incident with all its gory details was related to a pair of ears that didn't really care to hear about it.  In fact, the listener was already saying, "I really don't want to hear about it."  It happened out of the blue... out of nowhere... unsolicited.  After I was told of the incident, I became angry, but was immediately appeased by the knowledge that my friend formed her opinions of me based on what she sees today, and not on an incident that took place a thousand years ago.  Or was it a million?  For the record, yes, I was the one at fault.  But do I have to pay for it the rest of my life?

I will, without hesitation, admit to having been mean to certain people in my lifetime... I'm not always a likeable sort of girl.  I can also have a hair-trigger temper at times, a twist to my usually patient and calm nature.  And yes, I have had my own share of falling-outs and fights.  Who hasn't?  However, I'd like to think that when enough time has passed, the benefit of the doubt takes over, and it's safe to say that the people I had my fights with (and I) have all grown up, moved on and found a better, more peaceful place.  This I presume... until I'm then proven wrong.  I mean, 5 years ago... 10 years ago... 15 years ago... I was a different person.  As was everyone else.  All I ask is to be judged based on what I've become, and not on what I used to be.

On a lighter note, I saw an ex-boyfriend of mine not long ago... the break-up was not a pretty one and I remember being badly burned by it.  However, many years later, upon seeing him in the front row of a show I did, I was actually happy to see him.  We saw each other after the performance and hugged.  We were fine.

3.  Technical rehearsals.  I know, I know, this is a necessary process when putting on a concert or a show, but damn it, there are days when it can irk the hell out of me.  At tech week (or as I like to call it, "hell week"), this is when lighting, sound, sets and costumes all get their tweaking time.  During one tech week, I was nursing a very bad head cold, so having to stand still on stage wearing nothing but a t-shirt wasn't exactly the way I wanted to recuperate.  I've also had the wrong pair of pants handed to me during one rehearsal, as my dresser didn't have a clue what she was doing.  She eventually did just fine.

Not all of hell week is hell though... I get a kick out of rehearsing my quick changes for shows that I do.  It's a challenge attempting to get my changes done in record time without panic or stress.  There is a method to that madness...

4.  Manila traffic.  I don't mean traffic jams.  I mean, cars separated by less than 2 inches of air... drivers who turn on their high beams, blinding oncoming traffic... assholes that cut in front of you... the stupids who make a left turn from the rightmost lane, and expect other cars to just part for them (who the hell are you, Moses?)... the buses that swerve from one side of the highway to the other, driving their vehicles as if they were racecars... all modes of public transportation that stop anywhere and everywhere (except at their designated stops) to pick up and/or drop off passengers... and the pedestrians who ignore the crosswalk 5 feet away, throw caution to the wind and cross wherever they please, even climbing partitions to do it.  Maybe they have a death wish or something.

The traffic jams are actually not too difficult to negotiate... I'm able to tune out the world by plugging in my headphones and listening to music.  We're going way too slow for anything to be a real bother.

5.  Showbiz intrigue and controversy.  No, I won't expound on this one.  I don't have to.

6.  When I see a really unflattering photograph of a celebrity friend who I know is far, far more good-looking than that.  Why does that irritate me?  As a public figure, there is a degree of responsibility one must take in controlling the images of oneself that appear.  I try to make sure that I pick flattering pictures for headshots and publicity photos, and approve of poster layouts and designs (along with the director of the show I'm doing... if my face is on it, I wanna say yes before it gets out).  I do accept that there is a lack of control when it comes to photos taken at press conferences, interviews and news events, and that's fine.  All I can do in those circumstances is to look good and show my best side (by the way, it's my left).

However, there is going to be a small fraction of pictures released that do not do any sort of justice in terms of the person's image or looks.  It could be due to a bad angle or bad lighting, but still.  It unnerves me when it happens, and it makes me feel terrible for the celebrity.  Hooooh boy...

7.  Cellphones that go off during a performance... especially during a quiet moment.  Before every performance, there's a Voice of God announcement advising the audience to turn off their cellphones and other devices that may intermittently make a beeping sound.  Fair enough.  In truth, silent mode is enough if you really need to keep your phone on for important messages.  Chances are you're a good distance from the speakers.

When that announcement is summarily ignored... that really, really gets my goat.  I've found myself singing the most quiet of ballads with only a piano or a guitar accompanying me when out of nowhere, that loud and incessant Nokia message tone #1 goes off in the 3rd row.  I'm then jolted out of focus and all I can think about is killing that person and his or her offending cellphone.

Many years ago, during the run of They're Playing Our Song here in Manila, my co-star Adrian Pang and I were on stage doing a very emotional scene.  One cellphone's message tone kept going off (apparently that audience member was more interested in texting than watching the show).  After enough minutes of this into the scene, Adrian finally lashed out (still in character, and speaking to the imaginary studio engineer) to TURN THAT BEEPING OFF.  The look in his eye was that of extreme irritation at how inconsiderate some people can be.

One more cellphone story: it was the run of a musical here, I can't remember which one.  A lady in the audience answered her phone in the middle of the show and carried on a conversation... loudly.  The sad part?  The lady is a talent manager, which means she should know better than to answer the phone during a performance!  I don't think she would have appreciated someone else doing that while one of her talents was on stage.  Haaaaaay nakuuuuuuuuuu.............

8.  Mediocre preformances from otherwise excellent artists.  I really, really hate it when I watch a show that someone that I know to be stratospherically, ridiculously talented is in, and they put out a less-than-stellar performance.  This is otherwise known as "phoning it in."  If you're aspiring for puwede na, don't even bother.  You'd just be wasting your (and my) time.

Maybe it's that fan girl in me... when I watch someone with some frequency, be it on television or live, and I know that their standard level of performance is excellent or beyond, I find myself extremely disappointed (and even sometimes angry and disgusted) when that same artist phones it in.  Sure, it might be for just that one performance that I happen to see.  But still.  I come to expect nothing short of brilliance... or whatever their best might be.  I'd much rather see you aim high and fall short than aim low.  That's just a major copout for me.

And how about some quick cut inis-ness:

- People who cut in line at the bank, airport, fast food restaurants, wherever.
- Being sleepy when there's so much going on that I want to stay up for.
- When an actually talented singer is voted off American Idol.
- When my computer crashes BEFORE I save my document.
- The ass that criticizes anything and everything when I'm watching a play, movie or musical, robbing me of my focus and enjoyment.  Shut up muna, puwede ba?!
- Over-energetic people... only the ones that border on obnoxious and annoying.
- People that walk in between someone who's posing and someone who's taking a picture, during the 1-2-3.
- When my internet is down.
- When I ruin a manicure/pedicure.

And that's really all I could think of... I'll be editing this over the next few days... or when something else gets my goat.

Hehe! I guess it's part of our existence to have irritations.

I have a new irritation which is related to the one I posted in part one about foul-mouthed people hitting on each other when one is not around. Guess what? They attend a regular bible study! May God bless them.

here's something that i think we always see at the pre-departure area of airports and on airplanes. a lot of people don't seem to care by simply ignoring the announcement "turn off your cellphones". what's more irritating is that when the plane has just landed, many passengers can't seem to wait for the plane to reach the tarmac and simply turn on their cellphones. if these situations are not immediately addressed, who knows what could happen.

hmmm seems like a good place to vent ;-) we really all get annoyed and irritated no matter what strides we take to be more compassionate and tolerant of others. i suppose one thing that annoys me to no end are the people who think they're watching a DVD in the cinema and talk throughout the film, or answer their phones or text non-stop, in spite of the screen advisories to be more cellphone courteous. Sigh.

I get irritated when the following people badger me to have kids:
1. Those who DON'T have spouses or kids (really, do you know what it's like?)
2. Those who are clearly stressed out and are always complaining about their kids
3. Those whom I don't know very much or I've just met

Some people just keep at it, to the point of rudeness. In other countries, it's rude to even ask!

(Then if you have one kid, it's always "Why not two?" And the list goes on...)

However, it's endearing if it's coming from a parent whom I know, and is clearly enjoying his/her children.

One of my late mother's (God rest her soul) most memorable expressions was about irritations: "That really burns my ass!" My biggest irritations currently are:
1) Injustices (including prejudice)...I think this will always be my #1 and, if it's close enough to home, I could see myself being so moved as to make a final stand against it.
2) Some car drivers & pedestrians...when I slow down for a yellow light, drivers that actually go around me to fly through a red light! In my state, you can make a right turn on a red light after coming to a complete stop, but some drivers barely even slow down when making that turn (probably so they don't make the turn on two wheels). People that walk diagonally across a lane in a parking lot, extending the time they are blocking traffic (me) waiting for them to cross.
3) Road conditions...in areas that experience freezing temperatures, ice plays havoc with pavement causing potholes, but after years of dealing with the same potholes that only get worse, when is the city/town finally going to pave the whole road so people aren't driving on the moon anymore?
4) As you point out, people that don't do their jobs right can range from not bothering me much to irritating the heck out of me!
5) Movie directors that feel the need to alter one of my favorite fictional books, or alter history.
Sorry, this is so long...good blog, he-he!

1. Walking behind those couples or groups who walk too slowly along the sidewalk when you're in a hurry and couldn't even hear your say "Excuse me." Worse is when they keep on emitting cigarette smoke.

2. Seeing parents who tell their kids to throw their food wrappers out of the vehicle windows instead when those innocent minds simply hand their trash to be kept and be properly disposed of.

3. People who don't know how to properly use toilets. Come on, we don't need a pail of water nowadays to flush those bowls.

4. Guys who don't wash their hands after peeing.

Chinky Fuentes said...

I don't get irritated if it's someone I haven't seen for a long time. But people I see every week? Arrrrggggghhhhh!

And sometimes, it is okay to ask, "Do you already have kids?" But when I answer no, some people ask "Why?" If I don't want to be rude, I will just point my finger up, sending the message that that question is not really for me but for Someone who DOES know the answer. I mean, do I really have an answer to that question?

The worst reaction was "Why? What's wrong with you?"

you say your best side is your left side, but your right side is also gorgeous (as shown on your blog header). my sister and i love your most recent CD because aside from the good tunes, your pictures are very lovely. :D

one of my biggest irritation is smokers who do not care about non-smokers near them. why must they smoke at the bus shelter or inside an enclosed space? they should take their polluted air somewhere else. or smoke with a fishbowl over their head.

With number 7, I remembered watching a movie in the Cineuropa filmfest in Shangrila. A woman answered a call in the middle of the movie in a voice for everyone watching the movie to hear. Some people shushed her off. After ending the call, she exclaimed, "Tigilan nyo nga ako, libre na nga tong sineng to eh!" Well, granted that it was for free, but... geez!!!!!!

1. People who enjoy playing the victim/martyr so much, they practically make a career of it - the ones who file frivolous lawsuits irritate me to no end.

2. People who take forever at the ATM machine. Come on, 1 or 2 transactions shouldn't take longer than 30 seconds max!

3. People who block the supermarket aisle with their shopping carts, and pay no attention to those around them.

4. People who don't flush their own toilets in the public restroom (yes, that happens even in America!)

5. Rude people in customer service/retail/reception jobs. It's quite amazing that they are still employed! One day, I was so PO'd, I actually told this woman off while her boss was watching, then took my business elsewhere!

That's all for now.

I really hate people singing with the songs loudly when I am watching a movie or a play.

Story: I remember watching "Dreamgirls" on its first day of showing, then people (I hate to say this, and I am not pertaining to everyone, the black people) who sang through the whole move especially "And I am Telling You, I am Not Going" and "Listen" Josko po! Ang sarap manaksak nang tao! (hahaha) People were shouting "shut up" and they won't stop... nilakasan pa! Talga naman. They always demand for respect, but how come they could not give their share as well. It baffles me sooooo much!

I hope I did not offend anyone...

-(I totally agree with you Manang) re: insane drivers and passengers in Manila who have no concept of traffic regulations whatsoever. I dread visiting Manila for this, as I cannot stomach their death-defying behaviors.
-Insubordination. I've worked with unlicensed co-workers who like to flex their muscles and refuses to be delegated with certain tasks, nagdadabog pa, syetttt! I hate it especially when they tell my patients the wrong information about their health (WTF?!!?Go back to school ASSHOLE to learn the correct evidence-based practices!!!!)
-(One last one for now) Inconsiderate bastards who come to family-oriented concerts/festivals like the one yesterday (Kokua Festival w/ Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews) and smoke all sorts of illicit drugs. Pet peeves:
1. In a meeting at work, when someone tries to impress by so eloquently talking about something you know already. Then that person follows that up by taking you through some "complex" logic which is nothing but common sense. Then they make this face patting their backs for how brilliant they were. Ugh. It happens.
2. There are people sometimes who have such a strong sense of self-entitlement, ugh, I don't like that very much.
3. An overtelling of green jokes that are just so tasteless, you wonder how sexually deprived these people are.
4. People bumping you by their huge luggage or bags they carry in an otherwise cramped space such as the subway, and they do not apologize. I have no problems getting hit by these extra things, but please say sorry!
5. Some persons who say they will do this or that, but never really do anything.
6. People, who by virtue of living in New York City feel as if they're all haute couture and everything else in the city is superior to anything.
7. Balikbayans who are so arrogant and mayabang, and have this knack of re-using shopping bags from US stores for other things when they go home. I've seen this in NAIA many times--- and they look like caricatures.
8. Filipino expats who are so arrogant and mayabang that they think they know everything, who love to give advice to new Filipino residents, but their advice are largely anecdotal, and they would point to mga kilala ng mga kaibigan ng kamag-anak (which I appreciate), but please be smart enough to advice a fellow Pinoy to go to a lawyer for immigration advice, and an accountant for tax advice!
9. People who check their blackberries and other devices in elevators on their way to their desks and offices. It doesn't make sense at all to me.
10. Parents who do not carry strollers of their children properly when going down the stairs of a subway stop. I once saw an infant bounce off the stroller and roll down the concrete stairs of around 10 steps like a little baby plastic doll when the poor infant's father tried to go down the stairs pushing the stroller as if they were rolling at a park. The mother on the other hand was 20 feet ahead of them, absolutely clueless. I was mortified and wanted to scream at the very irresponsible parents.

1. When people smack their food while they eat. Definitely annoying!

2. When people tell you something, that you strongly believed in and trusted every word, only to find out in the end, hindi pala sila sincere.

3. When people are too nosy about what you do, where you came from, etc.. It's like wanting to know your whole life story, and autograph book.

4. When clothes are put on top of the hamper, and not inside the hamper.

5. When at a food gathering, ie, fried tilapia is served, and you see someone, disecting the fish with his hand, picking one side, and deciding to get the other section/side of the fish instead. Kadiri!

6. Yung mga "feeling pretty" people. These days, you don't know anymore...with belo technology going on in town! Having a good, understanding, soft heart makes a person more beautiful, rather than all the retokes outside, but mean and matigas ang kalooban!

7. Double dipping people!!!

second is the people who are insisting to OUST GMA (im not pro-admin, i'll clear it)
but do they think of anyone who can substitute GMA for BETTER???? i cant think of any qualifiedpoliticians!!!!

uhm... I realize my post is uber-long, but the point of this post is IRRITATIONS... what are yours... mine just happens to be that MASSIVE one that I wrote an epic about....
above poster: everyone DOES have his/her own cross to bear... and we're able to vent about each of ours on this post... so I'm venting on my current heaviest cross. I'm puzzled.... I didn't write a laundry list of my irritations, but my work (or ex-work) IS my irritation at the moment... so... huh???

OMG I don't even know where to begin...

(1) Being IM'd just when I'm about to head out. Or getting an email that I waited, oh, I don't know, hours or an entire day for, then receiving it right before I'm about to step out of the apartment. ARGH.
(2) When the USPS person doesn't do his/her job and actually ring the bleeping doorbell when I have a package, and instead just leaves a BLEEPING note saying "sorry we missed you!" when it should say, "sorry we're too bleeping lazy to actually ring the buzzer and wait for you to answer." BLEEP-tard.
(3) Calls from telemarketers. Enough said.
(4) Silly - stupid, even - news articles that can't possibly be classified as news.
(5) Bastards who like to make huge sweeping generalizations about everything. Just because you had that one Filipino classmate before who didn't speak English very well doesn't mean that that guy was an idiot and neither does it mean that all Filipinos are. And certainly it doesn't mean that -I- am. Because I'm not. Jackass.
(6) When the shoelaces of my tennis shoes come undone while jogging (which I don't normally wear and don't usually do, respectively, but still).
(7) Establishments that close earlier than advertised. Like, WTF. When you say you close at 11, that means you don't close at 10:45.
(8) People who get in the train/bus as soon as the doors open without waiting for the people who need to get off to get off. RUDENESS galore.
(9) Speaking of buses and trains, when they're LATE.
(10) A bad glass of wine. Yes, I realize I just bought it at Safeway on a whim, but it's still irritating.

I'm sure there's more where that came from. Thanks for the opportunity to rant. I should do this on my blog as well.

Haha! I can relate to these esp. with the "ate-thing"...feeling ko ang tanda2x k na! ): And the VERY BAD drivers who seemed to be always talking with important people on their phone they cannot wait 'til they are not driving!

And may I add the following:

- Some office colleagues who acts like they're more superior than the boss.

- People who are know-it-alls when you're teaching them something and would come and rush to you to ask how things should be done when the actual comes.

- Guys here who gets near you and ask "how much?" who thinks lahat ng Filipina nabibili dito! (GRRRRR!).

Ano pa ba? Marami pa! ;)

-When there are no immediate channels to the management to express praise for excellent customer service when you least expect it. There's a really lovely receptionist at the Renaissance hotel in Makati. I checked in really looking like crap- lugging my backpack and my feet greased by Manila soot because I was wearing flipflops all day, but was treated respectfully and nicely kahit mukha akong taong grasa.

-I'm also irritated when service discriminates you by your accent. When I speak in English, I get nice service pero pag-nag Ta-tagalog ako, manigas ka!

- whitening lotion, whitening soap, chin-chun su, espasol make-up, glutathione

- when I can't to bring myself to resort to violence kapag may sumingit sa linya.

- people encouraging guerilla car window cleaners sa highway. yes, the immediate gratification of good karma coming but it does more harm than good. don't you catch them sniffing glue under broad daylight?

- Japan issues more visas for 'entertainers' than for caregivers. As an industrialized nation, they have less than impressive health system for their ageing population. We have thousand nurses waiting in the wings here, why do they have to settle as entertainers to do the caregiver route? If the Philippines own caregiving, we might as well professionalize it.

-blatant plugging for hair, make-up, shoes, clothes, etc on TV. I'm not buying them, ipapagaya ko na lang sa mananahi sa kapit bahay namin. sige yan!

- people like me, who have bright ideas, who knows there are solutions (that's my day job!). Too apathetic to be socially and politically active but for the most part sold to 'the man.'

PS
It's Boracay, not Bora!

1. When I tell people I'm filipina and the first question they ask is either, "Do you eat dog?!" or "Oh so is your mom a nurse?"

2. And then I tell them I'm also part Chinese, and it's followed by, "Is that why you're so light skinned?!" or "You must be smart!"

3. Feeling like a newb in a theater when the older, more sophisticated crowd is discussing a certain scene/beats/blocking/artistic implications during the intermissions. It's worse when they do it DURING a performance.

4. Getting drunk text messages. Masgusto ko pa yung drunk calls, at least you can make some of their words out!

5. Lip syncing escapades done by professional/known celebrities. (Although I felt horribly bad for Ashley Simpson).

6. Craving something, but not knowing what it is. Lalo na if I'm craving a scent. Drives me crazy..!

7. People asking me why I'm white washed. What does that even mean? Or when they say I'm not filipino enough. I speak the language, cook the food (k more like eat the food, but you know), visit every year, and hold the filipino values close to my heart.

8. Cabernet Sauvignion WITHOUT chocolate...

9. Seeing a family having dinner while the kids play videogames/listen to their ipods instead of being actively there.

10. Going to the gym only to become insecure after seeing all the patrons/weightlifters at their stations.

Shut up muna, puwede ba?!) and the (When my internet is down.) ESPECIALLY (When my computer crashes BEFORE I save my document.) Try typing a ten page paper and then have the computer automatically restart before you can save any of it!!! That was a nightmare!

To add to the list, I absolutely, positively hate racist comments of any sort! I know people say we're all a little bit racist on the inside (even me, I admit that), but why can't people learn to keep their mouths shut! I was in line for a movie when this whale of an American practically insulted an old man who was minding his own business in his face! He said "you should watch this movie, it's perfect for people like you." I just fumed on the inside! What does he mean by that! Thank goodness the old man didn't notice the insult... and the guy continued on advising anyone who made eye-contact with him on what movie to watch! That incident is the perfect example of pure arrogance/cultural imperialism/white man's burden in broad daylight.

Note: Hindi ko sila nilalahat...ung bwisit lang na yun!

This is what you call as plain and simple hypocrisy! Irritation galore! Haller naman! Let's not pontificate here. Kinda reminded me of you posting about a guy that you had a falling out a long time ago. You don't even have to blog that one since you said he already made amends and yet you relived once again the issue by blogging about it. It's just like rubbing salt to old wounds. Even if you did not name him but the details surely points to that particaular guy since you gave neough hint and details to nail him.
Also, same thing about that Les Mis Casts having an affair. You don;t need to post them here, that;s gossip, my goodness and what they do about their lives is none of our goddamn business! so please if you;re trying to show the world how righteous you are by this statement, you just lost me. :) for all you know the guy is incorrigible. I know since he also nicked some of my personal videos and articles about you and passed it on as his own in his Lea Salonga fan site that he moderates this after several personal messages to give credit where credit is due. If it takes a sugahmamma80 to expose him here, then its fine with me.

Lea Salonga said...

It's one thing to make an expose... it's quite another to be rude. You have a problem with me? PM me.

God, even sugahmamma got my point.

Beer Gin said...

If by pointing facts is rude, then so be it. I am not the only one here who has been accused of being rude before, so I think I'm in good company. Still, It's plain hypocrisy to sugarcoat an expose or preaching one thing and doing the opposite.

Lea Salonga said...

Hik-hik! By the way, nicely pointed out.

Lea Salonga said...

First... I felt like writing. The falling out was of such great impact on me that the final bits of closure that took place merited my writing about it. That after 8 or so years of not speaking to one another, things came to a peaceful end. I didn't put the nasty details down, only their effects and outcome. Besides, the blog was about forgiveness and how one can come to it. It wasn't necessarily about the falling out itself. It served only as an introduction to the rest of the posting. It's therapeutic for me, since I still have falling outs that haven't had proper closure yet. Or probably never will.

Second... I did not write about any Les Miz cast member having an affair. What I wrote about (the whole showmance posting) had nothing to do with Les Miz per se. What I did write about was a showmance that resulted in a broken marriage between two very talented people who, I presume, have moved on with their lives. By the time I heard about it, it was extremely public knowledge that a majority of the theater community in New York knew about it.

Read the postings again. If you still want to call me a hypocrite or arrogant, then fine. You have your own Multiply site in which to do it. But please be sensitive to my fans here, some of who have taken your remarks as combative and rude.

Angela: given that I was singing in a room of doctors, many of them cardiologists, I didn't mind the cellphones going off.

I'm kind of hesitant to jump back on this blog (such hostility from some of these people!), but whatever... 1st Amendment rights in place...
on myspace's music profiles, someone's music page comes up with songs by Nina & MYMP on her site, listed as HERS... her blog also has the lyrics for "I Remember the Boy," and underneath it is her name, implying that she wrote it.
... now, THIS is an irritation.... I cover some songs, and I'm always so careful to give credit where credit is due (I mean, obviously, if it's a song by Joss Stone but it's not her voice, then you know what's what... but this girl... I mean, Nina's song & voice & all on her profile, with this person's name underneath, implying the songs are done & sung by her!)....

Just drove through SLEX tonight and what really irritates me is when you switch your turn signal on and the car that's supposed to be behind you speeds up so you don't get to change lanes. On the other hand, it has become a technique to speed up cars a bit along the highway. Hehehe! I hate cars driving at 40kph along a clear highway. :( Oh one more thing is when it's all clear in front of three cars on a three-lane road driving approximately at the same speed. Don't you just want to fly over them?!?!?

jhack telan said...

Yes, as far as I know, you can report this to Myspace admin. Just not very sure what are they going to do with your report, but Myspace now are more strict when it comes to user's profiles (because of the rise of fake profiles in Myspace) so there is a possibility that they will shut down the profile.

Mia BellaMare said...

I was researching a bit more on this "artist," the one who has Nina/MYMP's songs on her profile labeled as hers. She has a couple of songs posted on youtube. Her myspace profile mentions her being affiliated with Sony/BMG, & had apparently sung at the House of Blues in Orlando.

I mean, if she really is going mainstream, then it's only a matter of time until she gets busted. I'm resorting to sending Tom (the myspace creator) a private message for right now. I also tried sending this "artist" a message, even a comment, but I have to "befriend" her first... and if I bust her on her own page, she'd probably just delete my comments.

* When you let off steam, does that restore you? *
Lea is humanized here, and that's why we are trolling. If anything, positive thoughts and stuff are not appropriate under this topic, this is a mosh pit! Get involved!

Before anyone puts a post on their site that comes from somewhere else, it's only right and fair that the source of the original posting is cited. To make it come out that something that isn't yours belongs to you... that's just wrong.

I agree with those here that insist on making sure that due credit should be attributed when necessary. Because, it's just embarrassing when it's so publicly pointed out.

I am waiting for the rebuttal of Augustine73 and Jhaktelan. This is no longer child's play, kids. Be discerning with the words you use. My advise is, make it elegantly potent and of course, don't plagiarise.

on irritations:

don't you just hate it when someone lied to you by omission?!

"Lying by omission means allowing another person to believe something to be true that one believes is false, or allowing them to believe something is false when it is really true. It is normally classified not as a lie but as an act of deception."

Usually they'd say well, you never asked? WTF?! there are some things that should be told voluntarily! :p

Manang, I think it's about time for a new controversial topic. =)

Another irritation of mine is when people mistake being charitable as "kaplastikan". There are ways of pointing out a mistake objectively sans the passion and the feelings. Aside from plagiarism, what also irritate are calumny and detraction -- also sins like plagiarism. :) "Bato-bato sa langit, ang tamaa'y 'wag magagalit." (A Filipino saying. -- Do I really have to write this down?) I'm just stating some irritations which i believe is appropriate for this blog. :)

Mia BellaMare said...

Your novela, as you called it, miss sugah, never irritated me as much as MY long post apparently irritated you. You called me YOUR irritation, and suggested I learn to edit; I then ended up DELETING my post because I really wasn't interested in having to bicker about MY irritation written at the peak of an emotional day--- in front of Lea Salonga (!!!)... I just want to tell you that even though you slammed me, I choose to respect your right to air out whatever grievances you may have... after all, the title of the blog asks for your irritation.

I understand that you're just trying to explain the brouhaha and how it began and whatnot... but the point is the same. If you believe you have the right to go on and on about your thoughts and feelings, please extend the same respect to others. I understand and know I could have just PM'd you with this message, but I really just want to do it here in an open forum... because I want you to know and everyone to see that I did not, nor do I, tolerate your rudeness towards me. With that being said, my intolerance of your rudeness towards me does not mean I'm going to slam you, or anything you said, in any way.... that is your right, as I've said, after all... and, besides, my mama taught me better than that.

Trish Castro said...

This is just so irritating: When you realize that two posters are actually one and the same person (please allow this redundancy for emphasis). That's what I call an impostor (pun intended). :)

sugar dizon said...

This is another irritation. AS usual, the feeling of being righteous and mas kagalang- galang. Anyway, better make up your mind, ok? Just go straight to the point next time, no rationalizations and explanations, just say it like you want to say it. Remember respect begets respect. LOL

Relaks Kikay, If i can dish it, i know how to take it. O di va sistah?

sugar dizon said...

Here we go again, another poser, another self- righteous B. What really irritates me are the santong kabayos, really. Make up your mind and say what you really want to say.

Batu- batu a langit ang tamaa'y wak sanang mak ka bukol sa bumbunan. Wakanga LOL

sugar dizon said...

here is a classic example of an unstable thought. just to rebut you a little, at least my novela has relevance to the issues in here compared to your kilometric posts that delves into nothing but self- serving rants that could have been edited and made more precise. or much better left to your own blog instead. LOL

Lea Salonga said...

Kilometric posts notwithstanding...

How about a standard disclaimer preceding long-ish postings, to give the reader the option of either staying to read or skipping it altogether?

sugar dizon said...

Wow, you have the power to do that? When did it occur to you? From the realms of your dream or from the spirits that guide and enlighten you? Better go to the NBI my dear and you migth put that power to good use. You can help a lot of people by helping them authorities solve those unsolved crimes. LOL

This is a vicious cycle... but, okay, to spell it out...
{oh, and, yes, this will be lengthy}

My original post that you slammed, miss sugah, was about my IRRITATION, which, as I've said many times, is the main point of this particular blog--- and, as I always do (because, yes, I'm a writer... I write a lot, & am hyper-aware of this fact), I did start said blog with the caveat that it would be running long. One would argue that you're actually the one going off on a tangent, away from the original topic by justifying your "policing," citing incidents of plagiarism and whatnot--- while the point of the blog is "what is it that irritates you?"

Now, I'm sorry that you were just THAT victimized by reading my long post, but you had the choice to read my post or not---- just like I had the choice to read your long post. Caveat was there; but even if it weren't, you still had the choice to stop reading after the 6th line... I don't know whether or not you actually finished reading the post in question, but the point here is that you didn't have to finish reading it... thus, you didn't have to slam me & ignite this ridiculous little thing.

I could easily say your post is better left on your own blog, and I'm sure other people thought of that same thing... but we're decent enough not to slam you when you took the floor. Girl, I'm done. I am just annoyed at this attitude of yours that screams "I can rant as much as I want, but YOU need to check yours..." hmmm... sense of entitlement much?

How can you say respect begets respect in this type of an exchange?... we don't know each other... how can I ask you to respect me, but on a basic human level?

POINT: we are all strangers here, and we are only coming together on this platform because of Lea. I can't expect you to respect me for who I am, persona, life, education, and whatnot, because, natch, you do not know me--- but I do expect you to extend to me the basic respect that you would extend to anyone you meet on the street--- BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO REASON NOT TO EXTEND THAT RESPECT.. a more fitting mantra here, since we're strangers to each other, is that "disrespect begets disrespect."

I don't know about you, but I don't expect strangers to earn my respect BEFORE I show them courtesy... it's utterly impossible for people you don't know to prove themselves to you and to prove that they deserve your respect. Tautological, yes, but the truth it is--- I can't walk around being rude to people when I don't know them BECAUSE WHAT REASON DO I HAVE TO BE RUDE TO THEM?... I don't know what they're going through, I don't know what they've gone through... now, if the same people decide to spit in my direction, THEN they earn my disrespect.

For a decent person in a decent society, respect is extended first UNTIL that respect is violated. I mean, what is it?...did the length of my original post demand disrespect from you? Did the many words in my post make you think you HAD to extend rudeness instead?.. because, as I hope you know, that's exactly what your reply to my post screamed.

If all writers are like you, di ko alam kung ano na ang mababasa ng mga tao sa mundo. But the truth is, the world is full of these pseudo-writers and wannabes.

Enewi, I won't slam you further (because i might further damage your already damaged (take note, ha?) EGO! I'll just leave it to my tag-teammate, sugahmamma to do her thing. Go, girl! lmao.

don't you worry about my EGO... I mean, if defending myself and others is egotistical, then, by all means, I'll take it... I guess law school is doing me some good.

Diyosa Makiling said...

Uuuuf, my irritation meter just tipped the scales. To validate my self, I must say my course in neural networking, oh I attend uni at Cambridge, is doing me good too. I sure am smarter and on top of you in the food chain, luv.

Diyosa Makiling said...

And my, what a lag in posting from Jhaketelan and Augustine73. It's uncharacteristic that they are not here to defend their precious alter egos in the web. (There's some one here who went to law school and will be happy to defend the oppressed pro bono. So don't be afraid) I suppose we are not going to hear from them or see those sharpened claws. Oh loosen up kids, unless you posted embarassing photos in your multiply sites, we really don't have much to play with here. Come kitty-kitties.

Mia BellaMare said...

Miss Diyosa, I'm sure you are smarter than me AND higher in the food chain... there are TONS of people better than me (I learned that in Lawyering and Attorneying 101. Good class), and I'm definitely good with that :)

As for my previous postings regarding the myspace girl stealing songs from Nina and MYMP, and attributing "I Remember the Boy" as her work, her so-called youtube uploads of songs are actually NOT her songs (what a shock)... she's riding the train off to StraitJacket Land.

I guess what this girl is doing is taking songs of artists whose voices have somewhat of the same tone, and claiming them all as hers. She has no entries anywhere, except for entries that she herself made FOR herself. Maybe that ticket that I saw (saying she's playing House of Blues) was fake.. I mean, it was, after all, posted by "one of her fans" on her myspace page. Crrrazzzy.

Diyosa Makiling said...

My, is that empowering to be taught in law school that you are the least? It took repeated long winded posts to plea your case earlier. I couldn't get to the bottom of your diatribes because the writing style put me off. The word 'tautological' jump off the screen, though. Sugah was snapping your neck like the shark that she is, and she needed no lawyering at that-pulis lang. haha
Are you some sort of lawyer now?

Irritation Alert! Brown people trying to parrot their White counterparts. If you think that by saying the "F" word here you will look cool then my friend you just made a fool of yourself. If you review all my postings including my online buddy Gintoxic's, you'll notice that although we were "abrasive" to some extent, we never use, take note the "F" word!

So, you just unmasked yourself here as one of those people trying to project a pious image but in reality you're nothing but a palengkera deep in your bones.

sugar dizon said...

Kikaydarna,

Law School 101-- Be direct to the point.

I shiver in horror with the way you present your case. I am really sorry for your future clients and cases that you will handle for you will be sealing their doom. If you can't even write in a sane, clear and concise manner in this thread, how much more if you will add those legal gobbledygook in your pleadings!

Your "position paper" here is not worth our while. It's anemic to say the least. It's full of self- serving rhetoric but lacking in substance. You even have a hard time distinguishing between a figure of speech face to face with literal meanings. I wonder about the quality of graduates your hole in the wall Law School produces?

Instead of dazzling the jury, you will just confuse them. Instead of convincing the judge, you will just irritate him. Instead of saving your clients, you will be condemning them to the gallows. Que Barbaridad!

Any Rebutter in this case?

Roma Verayo said...

sugah,

oh, so you're included now... you're so out of context... first of all.. i didnt use that to curse anyone here.... again just driving a point and not really intending to be abrasive, its an expression silly... and if you noticed, i didnt S-P-E-L-L it out... and i'm sorry.. i dont have time to review you postings nor your online buddys'. My apologies if you were offended but it is not about you...

for what its worth... to anyone here that got offended with WTF.. my apologies...
sheesh! some people just don't get it!

sugar dizon said...

Sheesh! you don't just get it do you?

The point here is the "F" word whether it's an expression or not. For all it's worth, why parrot the expression of the white people when you're brown? Did that make you more sosyal or better then the rest? I think not. You may be better off using the vernacular equivalent instead. LOL

Mia BellaMare said...

Sugah, mabuti ka pa... you seem to know exactly how to become a damn good lawyer :) My "hole in the wall" law school should be alerted, and they should hire you to teach people like me on how to be concise, how to dazzle and NOT confuse the jury/judge (oops, sorry, I split the infinitive there.. que barbaridad, eh?), and to be plain freakin' awesome, right?....

REALLY, though... this has become a matter of who gets the last word in. By all means, take it. I know exactly what argument you're going to use as your rebuttal, but I really don't have to justify anything to you... I went through the rigors of the LSAT, the application, not to mention having to make sure I excelled enough in undergrad just to get into law school... if my arguments are "anemic," then, by all means, PM me on how to make my arguments better :)

Embrace I. said...

Wow. The comments are.. so interesting. hm..

Citing your irritations and reading someone else's irritations actually make you irritated as well. Guess that's why people who read your blog got quite carried away with their personal "conflicts".

Anyway.. good luck with your concert!

=)

Roma Verayo said...

nicely put kikaydarna anyways, sugah... i'll use that expession, when i want to, where i want to and it's none of your business... you are so missing the point... anyways, if you still don't get it then you'll never get it.. pointless actually. Smile! =) sorry to disappoint you sugah, but this will be my last reply to any of your comments... like what kikaydarna said... have the last words... i'm sure you'll be happy with that. just PM me next time and dont put other people here in an insufferable bore...

also, kakahiya to the owner of this site... sorry manang. :(

sugar dizon said...

You don't need to justify yourself to me? Mwahahaha.

No more arguments here. The above quoted lines say it all. Res ipsa loquitor. If you don't know what that means, just consult your professor. Hey, one piece of advice, it's not too late to change course since obviously you're in the wrong profession. Wag mo ng hintayin na magkalat ka pa sa court room ineng. :)

Sure, tell your hole in the wall law school to "make me an offer that I cannot refuse" LOL

Sur- rebutter?

sugar dizon said...

Look who's talking?

You apologize to Lea and nahihiya ka pa kuno and yet you proclaimed that you'll "use the expression, when i want to, where i want to and it's none of your business.."

Gosh,You're really missing the point, I think your thought process is not functioning well. Otherwise you won't be making contradictory statements that will only bury you deep down in the murk. But I think your brain is really messed up and every time you open up your mouth, it shows just that. Make up your mind, Momma.

The "F" word is still the "F" word no matter how you say it, or write it in this case.No explanation needed here. And to quote Manang, Gets mo? LMAO

Mia BellaMare said...

naks, throwing legal jargon at me...
res ipsa loquitur (hindi po LOQUITOR) in this case? HAHAAHAHAHHAHA... in fact, your bringing up the term makes MY position stronger... "it speaks for itself..."

my mentioning that I was able to get into law school (half the battle was actually going through the rigorous application process) makes me, at the very least, more qualified for the field of law than someone who sits around and pokes holes into arguments ON BLOGS. If you ace the LSAT (hell, just to even take the damn thing), then I might actually have the teeniest respect for your telling me I don't deserve to be where I am.

And, FYI, I chose to be in the Int'l. Human Rights Law program (as opposed to focusing on Corporate, Criminal, or E-Commerce), thus will be working with nonprofit orgs, lobbying more than I will ever be litigating. Kung magkakalat ako?.. never going to happen... know why? because I'm aligning myself with movements that are fighting for the betterment of human rights.

This reply to you is in defense of every single STRUGGLING law student out there... the test, the application--- that is MORE THAN ENOUGH for us to earn courtesy. Getting to law school was an ordeal, and being in law school is gut-wrenching. For you, whoever you are and whatever you do, I'm sure you put a lot of work and effort into your life... my life is HARD... but it's nowhere near as sad as yours.... at the end of the day, I know my advocacy and purpose in life, as do my peers in law school... and the victory of getting here is something YOU can never take away from any of us, no matter how hard and how loud you try to blab.

:: technology keeps failing me! wi-fi keeps cutting out, resulting in my not ever being able to finish this post... when I reload, something else is on this post.... hmmm... oh, well... it is what it is ::

sugar dizon said...

See, you took the bait? Mwahaha. I thought I will have the last say here? :) It's sad how a self- proclaimed advocate of the noble profession cannot even stand up to her own words. LOL

So, what now? For the sake of argument I'll grant your motion for reconsideration even though I already got the smoking gun on you, my dear. Corpus delicti? Mwahaha.

Stop contradicting yourself and frankly, we don't really care on what your sorry life do! Please pass the Bar first before you can be at par with me. If you're in the Philippines, I guarantee that you'll be the laughing stock in Law School. LOL

And you sounded in your latest post that you're already a lawyer? What? You can't even gather your thoughts in a single coherent paragraph. I worry for all the cases that you will mess up, esp Human Rights? You're way out of your league my dear. You can't practice criminal law either since every lawyer will kick your butt. LOL

Redirect Counselor? Sur- sur rejoinder?

n.b.
Gotcha, you just edited your last post again. LOL Why, para okay na ang paragraphs mo? Coherent na ba? I'm sure you've been leafing through that dictionary and thesaurus. Need my help?

You just added "Program" atbp. Di pa pala tapos ang yabang na, akala ko pa naman Lawyer na as in Lawyer na tunay, LIAR pala, Law-ko, law- ko lang pala. LOL Just do it, whatever that makes you happy. No excuses, wi-fi or otherwise. Mwahahaha.

Lea, you have mentioned ground rules in you past postings that we are free to write whatever we want as long as there are no cursing.
It feels awful to pick on people's brains, but some of them are parading it.In neon lights pa kamo. Also, there's a moral dilemma on when to spout decency...uhmmm we are in a blog medium here and not in a living room. It makes a longer process to hammer out arguments because one's mind is not on a level with another. It takes articulation in written form. So just because, nakapagtaray ka, as you would in real life or spoken, it does not exactly translate when posted. The way you think is vulnerable here not the way you act. I suppose it's a gift to know the difference. What is nakakahiya is wanton use of freedom of speech card and "sycophantization".
