Complete Vocal Rest... Bacolod Concert Cancelled

I went to see my doctor today... he's instructed me to go on complete vocal rest for a while. I've got laryngitis and pharyngitis, pre-nodules on and inflammation of my vocal chords, not to mention coughing up loads of mucus. So, it is with deep regret and sadness that I have to postpone my Bacolod concert.

Rats.

I guess this is God's way to make me rest. I've been running at full throttle these last few weeks, what with packing up our house, going on a cruise and caring for a toddler. My body just decided to shut down, forcing me to stay put and rest. And rest is what I shall do.

I'm sorry to my fans in Bacolod, but we shall reschedule the show for January 26.

Haaaaaay, I hate being silent.

I just had a bout with laryngitis right before Christmas. i was also ordered to go on complete voice rest by my doc for 3 days. I wasn't even allowed to whisper. I bought a Winnie the Pooh magnetic sketch toy thing for 179 pesos and it was a Godsend! I sorely needed it because I had all sorts of meetings for my church on the sunday and lots of work stuff to do on the Monday. Plus that Monday was also Gabe's surprise bday party. The band performed, but with the first time ever, no second voice from me.

Get well soon! :)

Ganyan talaga, what would bacolod rather have anyway? I'm sure they'll be thrilled by your mere presence, but it goes without saying, when they hear you sing live, aaayyy, heaven, kaya, pagaling ka, bacolod will wait. ;-)

By the way, do you have speech-generation software? You might find it helpful to get your laptop to talk when you can't. There's probably something at download.com.

Val Daubert said...

Get well soon Lea. I have a really bad headcold also but I am not a singer so it doesn't matter if I lose my voice. My co-workers will probably be overjoyed if I lose my voice. I tend to talk alot during work. LoL

Bob Guerrero said...

I got it in Toy Kingdom in Power Plant. They have plenty of different brands and sizes there. I just got the cheapest one. :)

Buy it, use it while you have your laryngitis, then give to your daughter when you get your voice back. :)

I'll see what's available here in Alabang. Right now I've been using my Treo and old fashioned pen and paper to communicate. Whatever works!

It's sad to hear the world has to survive a couple of weeks without your unrivaled singing, and I'll continue to pray for your speedy & full recovery. WebMD has some advice through this link - http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/laryngitis-home-treatment. Rest and take care.

it is God's way indeed to make you silent and rest:) get well soon.

I looked around a bit on the Internet. Since you're a Mac person and I'm a PC person, there wasn't much speech-generation software I could look at that you could use too. The one thing I found is Cepstral, which works fairly well, as long as you don't ask it to say your name. It's free as nagware, $30 for a license.
